As an Asian American college student, I wish society understood the immense pressure we often carry, both from our families and from broader societal expectations, to constantly perform at our highest level. Success is not simply encouraged; it is expected. This pressure can make struggles with mental health feel like personal failures rather than human experiences. Because of stigma and silence, many of us internalize our distress and feel as though we are carrying it alone. We need greater awareness, culturally responsive resources, and open conversations so that seeking help feels normalized rather than shameful. The image I took serves as a reminder to myself that I am doing my best, even when it does not feel like enough. It represents my commitment to honoring my well-being alongside my ambitions.
